Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c) I wish to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology regarding persons who were left landless when some middle level colleges were chartered as universities. Various middle level colleges across the country were chartered as universities, indeed, to inspire higher learning such as Meru College which became Meru University of Science and Technology. The Government promised compensation to citizens who voluntarily gave up their land for expansion of the said institution. However, no compensation has been given to date. In the Statement, the Chairperson should inquire into and report on:-"
