    "content": " Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for granting me this opportunity to participate in this Motion. Once again, I also wish to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the Mover of this Motion, Mr. Elias Mbau, a man I respect and a man with whom we went to school together. However, today, I do request that he grants me the opportunity to oppose his Motion because I know it is not about him; it is about the nation. It is about national issues. I rise to oppose this Motion and I would like to give a quick preview of why I oppose it. It will be remembered that during the colonial era the African languages were demonized and almost criminalized. Therefore, to that extent, Africans were made to feel that unless they spoke in English or maybe in Kiswahili, they were probably committing a serious crime. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have seen it even today because it has continued. It is best exemplified in a book written by Ngugi wa Thiong’o called"
