Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I hereby request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology concerning double intake in public universities nationally. In the recent past, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology introduced double intake to accommodate more students in public universities. This was a noble idea but it cannot be successfully implemented due to inadequate facilities to accommodate the increased number of students. The Chairperson should inquire into and report on the measures being put in place to ensure quality of education is not affected by The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
