Temporary Deputy Speaker, if you read Article 95 of the Constitution it talks about the responsibility of the National Assembly and our responsibility is to come up with laws which would help the people of this country to lead better lives. If amending the Value Added Tax (VAT) Act to exempt more items which are considered basic is not such, then what would be of concern to the people of Kenya? This House then therefore has a challenge to rise to the occasion and help in reducing the cost of living which has sky rocketed over the past few months."
