Those of us who come from areas that are so prone to malaria will tell you that mosquito nets are actually essential and necessary commodities. The draft Bill therefore seeks to amend the First Schedule also of the VAT Act to exempt mosquito nets which were previously exempt but now is subjected to 16 per cent VAT. This will help to reduce malaria which is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in Kenya."
