    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I want to support the Motion and to propose an amendment. THAT, the Motion be amended by deleting the full stop after the word “approved” and inserting the following:- Subject to inserting an amendment to Standing Order 16 as follows:- (a) By deleting paragraph (1) and substituting it with the following- 16(1) There shall be a panel to be known as the Chairpersons Panel which shall comprise of three Senators to be known, respectively, as the First, Second and Third chairperson of Committees and who shall be entitled to exercise all the powers vested on the Chairperson of Committees. (b) In paragraph (2) by deleting the word two and substituting therefore with the word “three.” This is important. I urge my colleagues to support the amendment because there are at times when we do not get the two who are in the Chairpersons Panel because of the respective responsibilities within the Senate. We end up nominating one of the Senators to stand in for the Chairpersons or the Speakers’ Panel. The Senate has also increased its committees, meaning that there will be a lot of responsibilities. It is, therefore, important to amend paragraph 2 and include the number of Speakers who will be responsible. With those few remarks, I beg to move the amendments and request Sen.(Dr.) Machage to second."
