Deputy Speaker, this really brings us to the fact that, that definition of marriage being a union between a man and a woman has really made it very clear and is in conformity with our Constitution. I am afraid to say this might disappoint those who hope that the same sex marriages will one day be legalised in this country. In the last two weeks in our neighbouring country Uganda, a Bill was passed in their Parliament and President Museveni was determined to assent to it. However, you heard the President of the United States of America (USA), Obama telling the President of Uganda not to assent to that Bill about homosexuals or homosexuality. I also saw that some Members of this House were advocating for the need to mobilise the country to oppose the issues of homosexuality. I think this Bill will put the facts straight because it clearly says: “Marriage is a union between a man and a woman.” So, there will be no marriage between people of the same sex."
