    "content": "recommendations to the President for the exercise of the prerogative of mercy as required by the Constitution and the Act. The recommendations were reviewed by the Cabinet in December 2012. The Cabinet directed that that National Security Advisory Committee reviews and vets the cases in light of the security concerns prevailing in the country. The Committee has drawn the attention of the Office of the President to the timelines stipulated under Section 23 of the Power of Mercy Act and has received assurances from the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service that the recommendations will receive due consideration once the vetting process is concluded. We undertake to keep the Senate Committee fully informed. Thank you."
