"content": "Some Members are saying that it takes a lot of time to get the loans, but as I have said, it is online. It is good for the students to visit their banks because they give their bank accounts. They can even visit the HELB offices to confirm whether they have received the loans. On the high interest on the loans given to people who are not employed, the last time we met with HELB, they said that they are open to dialogue. They recommend that the students who have completed university and do not have a job to go and just do a written submission until the time they will get a job, so that they can start repaying the loans. So, they can personally go and report to the HELB Offices. Hon. Wambugu asked why students from Mathioya are not getting the loans. As I have said, it is normally computer generated and it depends on how students apply online and fill in their questionnaires. With regard to first year students not getting loans, that is due to lack of information. Some of them are not yet informed about HELB and by the time they get the information, some of them are locked out. Hon. Kaluma talked about our time and how it was easy to get loans. The number of students has increased now. I am very sure by the time you were going to the university, you personally went to the Post Bank to find out whether the loan was there.
