    "content": "In an effort to address the persistent conflicts in Marsabit County, His Excellency the President appointed hon. Francis Ole Kaparo, the former Speaker of the National Assembly and hon. Senator Mohamed Yusuf Haji, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Security, Foreign and International Affairs as mediators in the conflict with a view to finding a lasting just and equitable solution to the conflict. The mediators engaged select representatives of the parties to the conflict in a rigorous mediation process and agreed on a number of issues aimed at ending the conflict. Since then, relative calm has been experienced in the county as the local people have embraced the ongoing mediation process. The whole process of peace-building and conflict management is bearing fruit and hence no need of declaring the situation as a national disaster.
