    "content": "Hon. Speaker, again, I want to thank you for your support and guidance in a process that is not easy and time consuming. It is a pity I have found myself going out and coming back at times. I think going forward, we will need to appreciate the role of the Budget and Appropriations Committee. I am told that, in Turkey – and I was privileged to be there with the President – to be a Member of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, you actually have to be vetted. I am not saying that we are not vetted. This is because when we get elected, we are vetted but the responsibilities that are given to this Committee and by the law are frightening. That I can tell you! There are so many pressures to do certain things which I do not find possible and I am glad many of my Members do not find it possible. It is absolutely crucial that we work with absolute political and moral integrity as we guide the country in a very sensitive and delicate exercise. I commend my Members. We have worked in a very bipartisan manner. There have been open conversations; very professional discussions and when we bring a report to this House, I can assure you that we give it our best shot. Maybe it was not an “A” but I can tell you we gave it all we had, sometimes within very limited periods. That is why we look forward to the amendments to the PFM Act so that more time can be allowed for us to engage in this process – this very delicate and crucial process – in a manner that gives us sufficient room."
