"content": "Thank you, hon. Speaker. I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing, regarding the state of roads in this country and in particular, Kenol-Murang’a Road. The Kenol-Murang’a Road is a major road serving a number of counties and it is very dilapidated and requires reconstruction and modernization. The state of this road is causing users to incur high costs of maintenance of their vehicles and some accidents have also been attributed to the state of this road. Further, the drainage system in this road is very poor and the road is likely to be cut-off during this rainy season that has started. Hon. Speaker, in his Statement the Chairperson should inquire into and report on whether the Government has allocated funds to tarmack this road; stating the timelines for the project to start and whether there are plans to make the road a dual carriage way. Thank you."
