Deputy Speaker for giving me a chance to contribute to this very important discussion; I specifically wish to point out that we have had laws in this country for a long time, which actually outlaw some of these harmful cultural practices; an example is the Children Act of 2001. I wish to inform the Leader of the Majority Party that, that law is 13 years old, yet as late as early last week we were still seeing misguided members of communities coming out against Government policies and laws by supporting FGM."
