"content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, Parliament also has a role to play, especially the National Assembly, with regard to some of the people who cannot resign or who have refused to resign; are not fired for one reason or the other. The third option is for Parliament to investigate the suitability of such office holders because the Constitution allows that oversight, especially on the National Assembly. It is a shame; and it was a very great shame for us to wake up on Monday and read major stories in The Guardian, The DailyMail, New York Times and hear it on BBC broadcasts; it was all about how a band of criminals laid siege on a Kenyan town the whole night without a single attempt to even resist. It is also said that there were police officers who were on patrol an hour before this offence or attack took place. We need to know why, at least, they could not have resisted and where they went. Mr. Speaker, Sir, having said so, I also want to say that it will be wrong for me, as a leader in this country, if I also do not say that I am equally embarrassed at how some of us in leadership are trying to scavenge on serious national catastrophes – like what has happened in Mpeketoni – for political gain."
