"content": "called all the heads of security. We have written letters to them. We have asked them from all angles, but what is it? Why are we not succeeding? We should ask ourselves. We have always said that we can borrow a leaf or the best practices from other places. Other parts of the world are more unsafe and yet they are able to contain all these horrible things. We are struggling as a nation. We are still a third world country. Kenyans are suffering. Poverty is increasing yet we are trying to eradicate it and all because of such acts. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have friends whom we have had for so many years, for example, the United Kingdom (UK). Unfortunately when this thing happened, I was not in the country. We were in the UK having a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Lords. You should have seen her face when we saw that the consulate was closed and other reports they were getting. They look at us and asked us what we are doing to this beloved country. You should have seen the face of the Ambassador of Kenya to the UK as he struggled so hard to build the ties, business contacts and so on. These irresponsible activities are flushing all those efforts down the drain. Surely, we are not giving them the support they need. It should be upon all of us to take the lead and ensure that we put together our ideas. I am sure we all have ideas; as Sen. Kiraitu said, we should put our heads together and deal with this monster called insecurity. Tribalism will not help us. As a mother I feel so painful having gone through the pain of child-bearing. You give birth to your child then as an adult you are waiting for your grand child, but your grown son or daughter is killed like an insect, sprayed with bullets. It is very sad and disheartening. This should never be allowed. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we, as leaders, must protect all irrespective of tribe, political divide, colour or religion because you do not know what is going to happen tomorrow. We have inter-marriages. My daughter may be married in Lamu, Garissa or Wajir, you cannot tell and you do not know what God has for you in future. You may become an ambassador in a worse place. Long time ago, all you needed was the blue passport. When we would attend all these international meetings, if there was a dispute or things were so thick in discussions, they would tell us to give them ideas because Kenya was known to be a peaceful country. Kenya was known for people who think very positively and very responsibly. Right now, you might be told to sit down because there is nothing to say. It is very embarrassing. It is time we took these things very seriously. Leaders and politicians will come and go. We saw what happened in the last elections; very many new people came in. As we are aware, many committees had to be reconstituted again because most people in international committees did not make it back."
