Chairlady, I appeared before the Budget and Appropriations Committee where I had requested that they reallocate from the Kshs38 billion in the National Treasury, Kshs10 billion for recruitment of teachers by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). I am surprised that they did not capture that in the amendments, yet they captured the one of the National Treasury. I appeared together with the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the National Treasury before that Committee. I am really surprised because it is a major issue. The shortage of teachers is too critical."
