It is unfortunate that Prof. Anyang’-Nyong’o could not really table his substantiation of what he had in mind, and we accept the situation. But the truth is that in most African households we do keep wet firewood on the ceiling as the mothers cook, waiting for it to dry slowly. We know that sometimes that firewood “laughs” at the firewood in the fire. One day that firewood will be also in that fire."
