"content": "Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I want to support this amendment. It is not anything new because we are aware that before any Christian marriage there are three announcements made in church. It is at that time that one is required to give an objection in writing and state reasons. Rather than people going to court to get a court order in the last minute, it is good for the Minister to look at the issue and recommend, if they so wish, to the registrar for further discussion. It is good because it will avoid the last minute rush when the wedding is taking place, for somebody to come with an order to say that a wedding must stop."
