Deputy Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c) I wish to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology regarding the failure of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to employ teachers in Embu County since 1997. Hon. Deputy Speaker, between 1997 and 2007 no teachers were employed in Embu County, yet TSC continued to employ teachers in other counties. Between 2007 and 2012 only 33 teachers were employed. In 2013 only 22 have been employed. This has led to massive unemployment among teacher graduates and they are unable to get employment from outside the county as they are considered outsiders in other counties. As a result, we have teacher graduates of 1998, 1999, and 2000 who are still unemployed in Embu County. In her Statement, the Chairperson should inquire into and report on:"
