    "content": "The company law is the basis for commercial activity in this country. Therefore, an early passage of the Companies Bill, which is long overdue, is required. I do hope that we shall have a very good debate here and take on board good suggestions so that we come up with the Companies Law. Personally, I am very happy that I have survived long enough to move this Bill, which has come out as a result of the task force that I appointed way back in the 1990s. It is not just a task force which looked at this. I also want to pay tribute to the Law Reform Commission, which after the task force had done its job, went and held many stakeholder meetings and so on to ensure that they come up with the best piece of legislation. This is because the Law Reform Commission falls under the Attorney-General in matters of drafting laws, but in terms of policy, it falls under the Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs, Mr. M. Kilonzo, who has agreed to second me on this Bill."
