    "content": "Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I rise to request for a Statement pursuant to Standing Order 44(2)(c) from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology regarding pregnancies of primary school girls, specifically 18 in Chepkurkur Primary School in Mount Elgon Constituency as reported in both the electronic and print media in May and June this year, 2013. Hon. Speaker, Sir, despite the fact that the said school girls got pregnant while they were pupils at the said school, the head teacher and the school management failed to report the incident. Instead it took the media to expose the same. In the Statement, I request that the Committee inquires into the reasons behind the concealing of this particular crime especially by the head teacher and the school management.
