Speaker, Sir, pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairpersons of the Committees on Environment and Natural Resources and Labour and Social Welfare on the state and condition of the mining sites and the rights and welfare of the mine workers in the country. In some mining sites in Kenya, workers are facing serious violation of human rights from the employers whereby they are physically abused, subjected to poor working conditions and even in some cases, there is late or no payment for services offered by mine workers.
