Temporary Deputy Chairlady, the reasons for these amendments are quite simple in that the principal Act provides that the Commissioner of Insurance, who will also be the Chief Executive of the regulatory Authority of the insurance industry, shall be appointed by the Board, in consultation with the Minister. All I am proposing is that we have a system that is very open and very competitive for everybody across the board. That is my prayer in the amendment – that we have a process that will be open and competitive rather than one that is very subjective."
