Members, while our committee system is a fledgling one, and during the setting up of structures of our Legislature in a presidential system of Government there may be some gaps and complications of transition, I wish to reiterate that the National Assembly of Kenya shall play its oversight role as envisaged by the framers of our Constitution. We have established a working relationship between the National Assembly and the extra parliamentary institutions of accountability such as; the office of the Auditor-General, commissions and other independent offices that wish to work closely with the National Assembly."
