"content": "Hon. Deputy Speaker, the nominated Member of Parliament from Laikipia County, hon. Korere Sarah requested for a Statement on the mysterious disappearance of three men after they were allegedly interrogated by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers on suspicion that they were engaging in poaching. The three were identified as follows: Mr. Kuyoni Parkusa, a former employee of Lewa Conservancy who was last seen on 26th May, 2012; Tomas Kuntai Kamushu, who was last seen on 1st July, 2013; Mr. Mohammed Elimbil, who was last seen on 18th June, 2013. The hon. Member, in particular, wanted a clarification on whether the disappearance of the three men was directly linked to poaching allegation. I wish to state as follows:- The three men in question have never been interrogated or arrested by the KWS on allegations of poaching or any other matter. All persons arrested by KWS are handed over to the police in line with the law. In the light of the foregoing I wish to state that their disappearance, therefore, has no direct or indirect link to poaching allegations. That, notwithstanding I wish to further state the following with regard to the missing persons:- On the disappearance of Mr. Kuyoni Parkusa whom the hon. Member indicated that he was last seen on 26th May, 2012, the police have never received any report on his disappearance contrary to the report from the hon. Member that the case was reported at Timau Police Station. However, following the receipt of the request for a Statement on the same, the OCPD Buuri Police Division visited Lewa Conservancy which was his last known employer and established that Mr. Kuyoni was dismissed from employment after he was found drunk while on duty on 31st May, 2012.
