Pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education, Science and Technology concerning the serious shortfall of teachers in the country. Notwithstanding the serious teacher shortfall in the country, various counties have been allocated very few numbers in the ongoing teacher recruitment exercise. Hon. Deputy Speaker, the Chairperson should inquire into and report on the measures that the Government has put in place to address the unacceptable level of teacher shortfall in the country."
