The reasons that the UK Government, the Netherlands and all other Governments, including our own National Agency for the Campaign against Drug Abuse (NACADA), gave for calling for the ban of miraa was that it was socially harmful and that it is a drug. I would like to seek a clarification from Sen. Haji on whether, indeed, the reasons for banning are not economic, but the effects it has on the health of families and individuals? Could he clarify that? That is the main reason it was banned, but not because of economic reasons."
