"content": "As we are aware, in the definition of “national referral hospitals”, there has been a misconception that it is only Kenyatta National Hospital and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) that can be referral hospitals. All Level 4 hospitals are supposed to be national referral facilities. A referral facility is where you have a patient being referred from one facility to another. Most of the Level 5 hospitals are in the counties, which means that they are serving within the national level. They also serve more than one county. Therefore, they qualify to be national referral hospitals. These hospitals do not have to rely on conditional grants."
