"content": "Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to declare an interest in this matter. I am a small-scale tea farmer in Meru County. Therefore, I have an interest in this question. But having said that, I do not have any interest over and above other tea farmers in the country. This statement is of great importance especially because of the media reports that have appeared alleging irregularities and manipulation of tea prices at the Mombasa Tea Auction. It is true we have received a statement from the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture. Upon carefully perusing the statement, I am not satisfied with it. It is necessary for me to go back to the Cabinet Secretary, preferably, may be, have a sitting with the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), so that I can bring to the Senate a full and comprehensive answer on this matter. I do not want to give a half baked response."
