I rise under Standing Order No.45(2)(b) to seek a statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare regarding the status of compensation for internally displaced persons in Nyamira County as a result of the 2007/2008 post-election violence. In the statement, I would like the Chairperson to address the following issues: (i) Is the Chairperson aware that various persons from Nyamira County including businessmen, farmers and workers were displaced as a result of the violence, and if so, if he can list the IDPs?
