"content": "Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, secondly, it is important to note that the international prices have been on the increase in the recent times. As a non-oil producing country, Kenya needs to clearly look for ways and means of lobbying the oil producing countries. As it is right now, the countries that are actually suffering are poor third world countries that do not have oil reserves. Big economies such as the United States of America and many of the Europeans countries have reserves that can take them through such difficult times. Therefore, their cost of living within the short-term will not be affected. However, our country does not have any oil reserves. Therefore, when the price of fuel goes up, we will immediately feel the impact in the same month. Therefore, that has continuously been a big problem for the country. It has also been said that if this trend is not checked, then you are likely to have a second global recession that would adversely affect many of the third world countries."
