"content": " On the first issue, Sen. Wetangula, it is a very good suggestion but I am very reluctant to start assuming executive functions from the Chair of the Speaker of the Senate. Two, the Chairperson of a committee has sufficient powers as the Chair to interrogate Government and agree with the Government agencies on the way forward, including definitely, the suggestions that you have made on this Floor, which I would imagine any sensible Government agency, and I believe they are sensible and responsive, they will do so. Our job is just to ensure that, that has been acted upon and if there are any other loopholes, then we can close them and ensure that the safety of our people is guaranteed. On the second issue, I would expect the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare to respond in the course of the deliberations. Sen. (Prof.) Lesan."
