    "content": "Mr. Chairperson, Sir, I strongly oppose this particular amendment because the purpose of these amendments is to bring Acts of Parliament to be in conformity. What we are being requested is that pending the review of the entire Act, we should have an Act in our statute books which is not in conformity with our Constitution. We are prolonging the unconstitutionality of the said Act. We cannot do that. As the Senate Minority Leader has stated, the best way to go is to immediately bring it in conformity and when you finish your exercise, you will, again, be able to repeal it. I am quite sure that the exercise will not take less than six months. Therefore, I am opposed to this. I would kindly request the hon. Mover to explain to the Committee that the passage of this amendment does not mean that we cannot comprehensively review the Act."
