"content": "Many families in my constituency do not take breakfast. They only take a single meal in a day. This is because they cannot afford food because of VAT. I appeal to this Committee and the Cabinet Secretary to make sure that the issue of VAT is sorted out in the next Budget so that the cost of living can be brought down. If you ask all these Members here you will find that the people they represent do not eat decent meals, they walk to their places of work; that is for those who are employed. These people cannot board a vehicle. This is because the cost of living is beyond the ordinary Kenyan. Let us not push Kenyans to the edge because they are already suffering."
