Deputy Speaker, I wish to convey a Statement regarding a report on the deployment of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to Mandera County pursuant to Article 241(3)(b) of the Constitution, and read together with Section 8(3) and (4) of the Kenya Defence Forces Act, 2012. The National Security Council (NSC) authorized the deployment of the KDF to Mandera County on 21st May, 2014. This deployment was published in the Kenya Gazette as Notice No.3386 of 22nd May, 2014.
