Member sought the following information:- reasons why the Government has not started the construction despite the availability of land; two, plans, if any, to commence construction of the hospital to reduce the suffering of the residents of Salgaa. Hon. Deputy Speaker, in response to the first matter, the proposed construction of Rongai Trauma Hospital was conceptualized in 2004 following the directive of the then President of Kenya that a specialist hospital be put up in Salgaa, Rongai area, to help in management of victims of numerous road accidents that occur in the area. In 2006, Plot No. /Rongai/Rongai Block 2/69 measuring six acres was acquired for this purpose with financing from Rongai Constituency Development Fund Committee.
