"content": "I have looked at the proposed amendments and they are very important. First, they want to align the Children Act with the Constitution. Why and how? If you look at Article 27 of the Constitution relating to the issue of discrimination and the Article which deals with the rights of the child, you will find that they give all children equal rights, whether the parents were married or not. However, this Act has a problem because it tends to create two sets of rights. These are rights which accrue to a child who has been born out marriage and a child who has been born out of wedlock. So, one of the objectives of this Bill is to do away with that discrimination."
