"content": "First of all, I want to say that the family is the first unit of governance in the Republic. Second, domestic means so close as to know all the good, the bad and the ugly of another person or partner. I wish to plead with the Chair of the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs that it would have been more positive if the title of this Bill were “Promotion of Domestic Harmony;” it would convey to the Republic that the offences we are castigating are those against domestic harmony. The objective in the Republic is to strengthen the family unity, harmony and stability in prosperity. Hon. Speaker, I support this Bill because it is a serious effort towards establishing sound marital practices in our country.
