"content": "Thank you hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to support this Motion. This House and the nation is in agreement that we need to improve and work on our security. But our officers or the security agencies need to be properly facilitated through equipment, technology and training which my good friend has also alluded to. These recommendations speak for themselves to that end; that security surveillance shall take a new turn in Nairobi and in Mombasa once those equipment are procured. The concerns that have been raised here were critically evaluated and analyzed by the Committee. We went through several meetings. We called back even the Cabinet Secretary (CS); including the Public Procurement Oversight Authority (PPOA) in this country. The project comprises four major components that we need right now: The digital tracking radio network, central command operation centre, installation of video surveillance systems and internet connectivity to police stations. I have just come from Lamu as part of the Security Committee team. It is true that business in the coastal region is completely on its knees because of insecurity and the attacks that have recently occurred there. Although information may be coming, to date we have not known where those attacks come from. We have not critically got the criminals.
