"content": "What we did by creating the NSSF Act was basically to strengthen the systems with the Fund by ensuring even workers pay more money to it. Workers were asked to pay more money so that they could have a decent retirement. The Kshs200 that they were paying into a Provident Fund could not give workers a decent retirement. So, we said: “Increase the money but also tighten the controls so that this money is assured.” This ensures that as a worker, when I am 60 plus years old, I can go back because I have a pension fund that services me. So, this is part of tightening the controls that we have."
