Sometime in June this year, I asked for a Statement from the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology regarding distribution of hardship areas in the Republic, and what criteria is used to declare a place hardship area. To date, I have not received an answer. Sometime back I said in this House that we had a problem. We ask for Statements, we are given timelines but those timelines are not honoured. We are not even given an explanation as to why they are not honoured. Sometimes it becomes an effort in futility to request Statements. Some of them are even forgotten, if they are not pursued. I do not know whether they keep a record of the same or not."
