If one Member used unparliamentary language and referred to another Member as a fool, the Standing Orders provide that the Member must withdraw and apologise. It is not adequate for a Member to just respond when he or she has been referred to as a fool. There should be no debate. A Member should not start explaining that he or she is not a fool. What is provided for is for the person to withdraw that statement. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
