"content": "On the President’s Speech, there are two outstanding features which require serious thought by the Members of this House. I know that sometime back we passed a Motion indicating that Kenya would pull out of the Rome Statute. I am not clear where that Motion ended. But if you look at Paragraph 19 of the President’s Speech, you will know that the President may not necessarily share the view that Kenya should pull out of the Rome Statute. He says: “Internationally, our diplomacy has been driven by the desire for a level playing field, On which all nations and their peoples are equal in respect of their sovereignty. This is why Kenya played a crucial leadership role in the negotiations that led to the creation of the ICC through the Rome Statute, as well as mobilizing African states to sign up to it”."
