"content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you very much for giving me this opportunity. As a lawyer and citizen of this country, I have tried to follow the case in the ICC pertaining to our President and his Deputy, His Excellency, Hon. William Ruto. On 21st September, 2014, when we got a disaster at Westgate Mall when the Deputy President applied through his lawyers to come back to the country to assist the President during that very difficult time when we lost many Kenyans. The judges allowed that adjournment. I remember the prosecutor, Mr. Steinberg, said openly to the whole world that the Deputy President did not have to be in Kenya at that time and that he could appoint somebody else to act in his place. Everybody was in that courtroom, including the judges and the prosecution side. It was with disbelief that somebody enjoined with such an important task as prosecuting a case at the ICC was so ignorant. One of the judges, Judge Osuji asked the prosecutor whether he had read or aware of what the Constitution of Kenya says about that position and he said he had not read. I could not believe that somebody could be so ignorant. This is a lawyer who is purporting to prosecute such an important case.
