"content": "Michael Kijana Wamalwa. They may remember that he was a Vice-President at a time when we had a very important transition, but as to the exact contribution that he made, there is no record that has been advanced of the most outstanding contributions by those who were pioneers in the legislature of this Republic in the one party regime and, particularly when totalitarianism had taken root. It was at that time that Michael Wamalwa was identified as being one of the “seven bearded sisters” of this Parliament. These are people who chose not to be coerced and bribed. I do not remember any instance where Kijana Wamalwa was cited for any corrupt deal or a malpractice in leadership that called for investigation or condemnation. He truly embodied courage; coming from a region that was focused on very clearly at that time for zoning and single party domination; he stood very firm as the single most prominent voice, only second to the late Masinde Muliro, who was his political mentor and close friend."
