    "content": "Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for giving me this opportunity, so that I may join other hon. Members of this House in supporting this important Motion, that has been brought up by Hon. Wakhungu. To me, it is very important and the country will celebrate and upgrade Kitale Technical Institute to a university. I once worked with the late Vice-President during those days. I know how much Wamalwa had invested in that technical institute when he was a Member of Parliament and when he became the Vice-President of this country. He was one person who was associated with education of people of Trans Nzoia. He was liked by the people because of his efforts to make every child in Trans Nzoia know the importance of education, particularly higher education. I am happy that hon. Wakhungu has brought this Motion and I support it very strongly. This is one way of recognizing the late Vice-President, who did much in education during the time he was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi. He was an academician in this country and to have his name at an educational institution is very important. Trans Nzoia is one county that is due for a university in order to help the people of this county and surrounding ones like West Pokot, Turkana, Bungoma and others nearby. I support the renaming of this institute to “Wamalwa Kijana University of Science and Technology. Education is important and what hon. Wakhungu has done is a pride to the people of western region and other regions in this country, because the late Wamalwa was a friend of every leader in this country during his time. I agree with the other Members who have contributed and I congratulate them. It is important for us as Members of the National Assembly to remember our heroes and put them where they can be remembered by the people. With those few remarks, I support this Motion very strongly.
