The matter that the media has picked up from our colleagues in the Senate is in bad taste and I need to make a few clarifications. Firstly, as you said, the Mining Bill was passed on 29th October, 2014 with several Committee amendments adopted during the Committee Stage. The process of certifying those amendments by the Clerk of the National Assembly is underway. The Bill has not yet been submitted to the President for assent. The rush to the media by our colleagues even before consulting the Speaker of the National Assembly and its leadership premeditates a scheme being well orchestrated by the Senate to discredit the National Assembly. Secondly, I would like to make it very clear to the House that there are a number of Bills which have been passed by the National Assembly and submitted to the Senate as The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor."
