    "content": "Hon. Members, I have a Petition. Hon. Members, Standing Order No. 225(2) (b) requires that the Speaker reports to the House any Petition other than those presented through an hon. Member. I, therefore, wish to convey to the House that my office has received a Petition from 25 representatives of registered political parties. The Petition signed by 25 persons prays that the National Assembly considers further amendments to the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill 2014, Senate Bill No. 3 of 2014 which was passed by the Senate on 7th August, 2014, and thereafter forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration. This Bill was read the First Time in the National Assembly on 20th August, 2014. Among the sections proposed for amendment is section 25 relating to the disbursement of funds to political parties. Hon. Members, as you are aware, this Bill is already before the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs. The Petition also therefore stands committed to the same Committee and can be considered alongside the Bill. The Committee is requested to report its findings to the Petitioners and the House in accordance to Standing Order No. 227(2). I must add that this Committee also undertakes to hear the Petitioners with a view of taking into account their views. I thank you."
