"content": "I was also looking at the sections dealing with sewage disposal and how to protect riparian areas. For those of us who live along Nairobi River, we have serious issues on how to protect riparian areas. I know that the Environmental Co-ordination Act, for example, addresses some issues, but this Water Bill needs to put special emphasis on how riparian waters will be protected and how sewage will be disposed of. If this is not done, I will find it very difficult, as someone from Korogocho to, for example, support a Bill that does not clearly show how sewage disposal will be handled, or how factory effluent will be disposed of. It is a good Bill but one that needs to be visited with a fine toothcomb to comb areas that are inconsistent and leave only areas that are on policy issues. I am glad the Committee proposes to bring some amendments. However, if we do not know what the Committee is bringing, then we, as Members, do not know what else to bring to remove what we think is wrong. I will look at the Report and the amendments that the Committee is bringing, against the amendments that we as Members will bring and then we can support it."
