    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Committee is actually aware of the crisis that the maize farmers are facing. In our meeting today, we decided to request the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries to appear before the Committee on Wednesday next week so that we raise issues regarding the purchase of maize from farmers. However, we have not got a response because the request was only sent today. We have not got any confirmation whether the CS will appear or not. However, Mr. Speaker, Sir, to give a formal answer to the House, I request that we be given two weeks so that we meet the CS. Thereafter, we will get a written response from his Office, then we will respond to the Hon. Senator. We are aware of the urgency of the matter and that is why we requested that the CS appears before us on Wednesday."
